Monica James

Monica James has been involved in the Hospitality, Tourism and Convention Industry for over twenty years. She gained extensive experience in the conference industry through her role as Conventions Services Manager with two of the leading 5 star international properties located on the Gold Coast, Australia.

After a successful eight year career in the hotel industry, Monica resigned from hotels and in 1995, established her own conference management consultancy. She has worked with the association, corporate and incentive sectors at both a national and international level.

The years in the hospitality field were quite a departure from Monica’s original career of secondary school teaching. However, the pairing of the two careers has successfully developed Monica’s main skills and strengths in areas such as planning and organisation with a strong attention to detail, event management and delivery, budgetary planning, hotel operations and excellent people management.

For the past 13 years, Monica has served as the Conference Director for WYSTC, the World Youth and Student Travel Conference, which each year organises a large trade fair and conference in a different country.
